Havana Havana

“If you haven’t seen or heard about it yet by the end of this summer you definitely will. I found out about Havana Twist last year when a picture (top left) surfaced on tumblr. I always thought I needed to use the finger comber hair to achieve the look but then I saw many girls using Marley Hair or something similar. Eventually I gave up on tumblr and I wasn’t on Instagram yet so to me the buzz died. Fast forward to my iphone upgrade I was reintroduced to those darn twist! There are some very talented people out there who have taken the Havana Twist to new heights and I am in love. So in love that on Saturday my friend will be doing them for me! Excited much? Heck yeah!¬†“

This is an awesome and super easy protective style. I’ve actually been wearing them on myself for a few weeks now. They take no time to install and are low maintenance which is great for the summer.

Check out the ones that I’ve done on myself.

I’m going to make a video showing how to do these as well so be on the look out for that

Where in the world is Knotty Girl?

12 Jun

I bet you can’t find us. No really …

I always talked about this happening but I never thought it would happen to us (Darshanay and I). We got sick of natural hair!!

Okay, not natural hair in general but talking about it. It seems that throughout the winter months the natural hair events and scenes had gotten really over saturated, at least in our area. Not saying that we don’t love to go to these events and seeing all the other beautiful naturals. Everything just started to lack creativity or was just something done to make money. Needless to say we just needed a little break. However we’re back and are going to try and stay as Knotty as possible. ;)

New Years Resolutions Or Wuddeva…

29 Dec

20121227-030713.jpg

New Year, New You! I love New years Resolutions, It’s the perfect time to reflect on the year and paint a picture of what you really want out of life. Many people hate doing New Years Resolutions because they feel they will never follow through with their resolutions. The way I see it is that there will always be things in life that we can improve or do differently. It’s okay to start over, It’s okay to have goals that seem unrealistic, It’s to admit your flaws, and it’s okay to be yourself! To quote Hannah Montana “Nobody’s perfect I gotta work it Again and again ‘Til I get it right”(yeah I went there) the point is just improve yourself!! Grab a journal and start thinking about some of the changes you may want to make in 2013!

Here is a list of funny resolutions that I hope to improve and accomplish in 2013:

  • Stay on track with my weight loss goal. I have come too far to give up now.
  • Overcome product junk-ism.
  • Blog more frequent. Knotty Girls uphold me to this one!!!
  • Go to Disney World
  • Workout at least five times a week
  • Keep working hard in school Continue reading

I just wanted to go over some healthy habits that are sure to help your hair FLOURISH. If we don’t know by now being healthy starts from the inside. You can’t only take care of your outside. What is inside counts the most.

Black+Woman+drinking+water

Drink Water- Yes drink plenty of water. I want you to drink so much water you think you are turning into a fish. lol but really our body is composed¬†primarily of water and we know water is natural hair’s number one moisturizer.

Exercise- Yes ladies we gotta do it. We can’t expect this great head of hair when our body isn’t great and no I don’t mean be an olympic class athlete, just some moderate exercising will do. Exercising is great for out overall health but it will also improve the quality, texture and growth of the hair. Regular exercise gets the blood flowing throughout the body, including the scalp, which in return will help your hair reach its fullest potential Continue reading
